Kristin Thomas, Owner, Taking Root Design
Kristin has an extensive background in landscape design and horticulture. Growing up in the beautiful Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts, she saw first hand landscapes respond to people and change, while working along side her father in his landscape design business.

Kristin received her M. A. in Sustainable Landscape Planning and Design from the Conway School of Landscape Design and her B.S. from the School of Natural Resources at the University of Vermont. She has designed landscapes throughout Boston, the Berkshires, the Pioneer Valley, and Burlington, Vermont. Kristin has a diverse plant knowledge of native and ornamental species and a keen eye for creating harmonious landscapes. Writing, teaching, and graphic design are included in her expertise.

Kristin's approach to designing and planning landscapes is based upon the goal to foster resiliency, beauty and awareness in our natural world. She aims to design in such a way as to encourage positive and formative interactions between people, their communities, and the natural world. She firmly believes that good design has the power to improve our collective and individual worlds.
